The Feral Foster
The Feral Foster is community-based animal welfare initiative dedicated to improving the lives of dogs, puppies, feral and socialized cats, and kittens throughout Aurora and Denver.
Through foster-based rescue, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), community cat care, and pet mutual aid, The Feral Foster works to reduce animal overpopulation, keep pets with the people who love them, and create safe, compassionate outcomes for animals in need.
A core part of this work is making pet care more accessible.
The Feral Foster provides:

Pet food and essential supplies to local dogs and cats

Owners with resources for low-cost veterinary care, vaccinations, and spay and neuter services

Neighborhood education on the dangers of breeding, neglect, and collecting (hoarding)
My goal is to help remove financial barriers and ensure that pet owners across Aurora have access to the support they need to care for their animals.
Paige Pawar
I specialize in fostering and socializing feral kittens, helping them build trust and prepare for adoption. However, my work extends far beyond kittens. Foster cases may include adult feral cats, kittens with severe eye infections & URIs, and animals with additional medical or socialization needs.
The Feral Foster is independently operated and is not an employee, department, or official program of the Aurora Animal Shelter. I am an individual who volunteers with the shelter as a foster and community cat caretaker while also organizing independent mutual-aid and animal welfare efforts throughout the community.
At its heart, The Feral Foster believes that supporting animals also means supporting the people who care for them—and that access to pet food, supplies, veterinary resources, and compassionate guidance should not be out of reach for any pet owner.
Direct Actions
Safe Places to Land
We provide temporary, home-based care for cats, kittens, dogs and puppies who need a safe place to land. Through fostering, we give animals the time, care and support they need to heal, grow and prepare for loving homes.
Preventing Future Litters
We support Trap-Neuter-Return efforts for feral and community cats throughout Denver and Aurora. By safely trapping, spaying or neutering, vaccinating and returning cats to their outdoor homes, we help prevent future litters and create healthier, more stable colonies.
Caring for Outdoor Cats
Not every outdoor cat needs—or wants—a traditional home. We support community cats and their caretakers with food, shelter, colony monitoring and hands-on assistance, helping cats live safer, healthier lives in the communities they already call home.
Keeping Families Together
We provide pet food, supplies and other essential resources to community members experiencing financial hardship. By meeting immediate needs without judgment, we help remove barriers to pet care and keep beloved animals with the people who love them.
