Mutual Aid

101
what is it?

The Feral Foster supports pets and their people in Aurora, Colorado through pet food and supply assistance - no questions asked, no matter what your circumstances are.

Pet Mutual Aid, to me, is helping our neighbors and pet-owners who may not have sufficient funds, housing, or transportation. Many people don't have access to pet food and low-cost vaccines, microchips, and spay & neuter resources. The Feral Foster provides flyers with local and upcoming vaccine and spay & neuter clinics, and info on where to find their nearest pantry.

Mutual aid can look different to everyone! Some examples of what I've been able to assist with in the past year are:

  • Distributing dog, cat, puppy, and kitten food to unhoused neighbors and consistently providing donated pet food every Tuesday at Aurora Communal Third Space

  • Providing safe, temporary, foster-housing for pets while their owners are incarcerated or unhoused

  • Transporting pets to low-cost spay & neuter clinics

  • Giving toys, treats, and other enrichment activities to dogs around Aurora

  • Coordinate, pick-up, and distribute emergency pet food
